• Hoggs Hollow | Private Residence | 12,000 sq ft., | New Construction

Built on a dramatic site that backs onto the Rosedale Golf Course and slopes down to a tributary of the Don River. This site was very challenging to build on.

Majestic oak trees and a small hemlock grove restricted where we could position a 4,500 square foot footprint. The trees required protection zones leaving little table land to build on. The house was designed to blend into the landscape. The massing of the building steps down the hill towards street and its low sloped prairie style roofs blend into the horizon. We chose natural materials for the exterior of the building: honed Algonquin stone slabs, Owen Sound ledgerock and teak windows. The circulation within the house is designed to create vistas and capture marvelous views across the landscape as one moves through the house. The kitchen is designed as the heart of the house with an eat- in area, pizza oven and large Piacentina stone island. The materials used on the interior are in keeping with those used on the exterior so that the interior blends with the landscape beyond.
